We began the day with a full breakfast which much to everyone else’s disappointment had no black pudding! Outrageous, and no beans! My veggie one had beans though ;) We all piled back into the car with more views of beautiful mountains and our designated driver revived we where ready to find Nessie!
We arrived at the end, or the beginning from our point of view, of Loch Ness where there were more locks and a little castle :)
I’m really glad we had a walk around this area, its so pretty and you get excellent views out over the water.
The view up to the quaint village whose name I cannot remember…
Where we found our first Nessie! This one was covered in flowers at one point, like the photo of the miniature castle bellow.
We then saw the real version of the castle! Well, sneakily from the top of a wall as it been all fenced off :/
The road goes all the way along Loch Ness, which is kind of a shame because it means there isn’t a bank to walk along as I had imagined… So we drove along the waterside, all the way to Drumnadrochit where Nessie Land is. Which needless to say we didn’t go in!
We saw the significantly better Nessie who moved in the wind.
And the submarine that was used to look for her!
Then we had a little pie, a wander through the village and back in the car! The trouble with seeing half of Scotland in two days is that you have to spend most of the time in the car instead of out walking. Nevertheless, we got some good views from the window! I kept spotting castles nestled in trees which sped by before I even registered the word photo!
Our last stop before the fabulous place the next post will be about was another village whos name has escaped me! Where we had a little walk and spotted wild rabbits!
And here is a rough idea of our journey! A bug thank you to my amazing grandparents for making it possible!
