The Maclay Inn, at The Crook of Devon in Fife , Scotland is one of those fabulous pubs that have turned into a hobby, or maybe a hobby turned into a pub? Even if you went there every single day I think you would still find some new object each time. You could easily spend the afternoon just looking.
The Grand Tour of Scotland Day Two
We began the day with a full breakfast which much to everyone else’s disappointment had no black pudding! Outrageous, and no beans! My veggie one had beans though ;) We all piled back into the car with more views of beautiful mountains and our designated driver revived we where ready to find Nessie!
The Grand Tour of Scotland Day One
One sunny morning grandad packed us all in the car and we went in search of the Loch Ness Monster, with a few picturesque detours on the way.
Our Time in Edinburgh
I realise I have been very absent over the last month or so. The reason is that I have been with most of the people that read this blog. The people I think about when writing. Not only did it seem silly writing without that but also I would end up writing about my family which I wasn’t really comfortable with.
Now we are still visiting family, my grandparents, but we are in a totally new place to us: Edinburgh.
Portuguese Countryside: Bread Vans and Frango Assado
I grew up in the mountains between the Serra da Estrela (the tallest mountain in Continental Portugal at just a few metres under 2000 – they built two small towers on top to make up for it) and Coimbra the third biggest city.
It’s a beautiful remote area and although there is an ever growing community of foreigners it still has very strong ties to Portuguese tradition.
When we first turned up in early 2000s you hardly even saw a tv, god knows what they thought when we rocked up in a truck!
Food of Portugal
Portugal has delicious food. So good, that when David’s dad suggested leaving Andorra for Portugal his mum’s first words were “The food is good”. Not only that but its reasonably priced, ah what am I talking about? Its cheap! Cheap as chips (not english expensive ones though! Maybe the phrase came from here because every plate comes with a massive amount of chips!).
Palacio de Cristal
Unfortunately the Crystal Palace was demolished in 1951 but the name remains for the beautiful gardens that now surround a sports pavilion instead. Its not just a sports pavilion though, all sorts of events happen in there, but we came for the gardens.
Porto, Oporto: Torre dos Clérigos
The bride and groom are on their honeymoon, the family has all been shipped back to their respective countries and its about time I get back on top of this blog. And the other one eeek!
I promised I would write about the one touristy thing we did. Luckily we did it all over again yesterday with my parents so I have it fresh in my mind!
Finally Back in Portugal (and finally a blog post!)
I am sorry. I have been so busy planning the wedding cake that I haven’t had a chance to write a blog post. We have been here nearly two weeks now and it feels like a couple of days!
Lets make up for it though, with bit of background information :)

An Update on my Integration in Spain
We have been in Spain for almost two months now, minus a trip to Andorra, and I can say, without sounding too big headed, that my spanish has come along in leaps and bounds. I am actually amazed at myself! Ok, now I’m just rubbing it in.
